Tabliope,
Goddess of Gambling
Name: Tabliope – Goddess of Gambling
Father – Ares, God of War
Mother – Eris- Goddess of Discord
Appearance: Long locks of Red hair lay loose about a lithe frame, which stands in mortal standards to around 5'11". When she is seen in mortal eyes she usually is wearing little more than a short gown of red that is hung around the neck and falls to about mid knee. Her eyes are a crystal blue, which can fluctuate to the deepest sapphire depending on her mood.
Personality: Tabliope is a troublemaker through and through. She makes no difference whom she tempts or persuades in her games, and to her it's all about the game. Watching mortals and the gods delving into wagers on how the mortals run their lives. She feeds off the greed, the power and the lust behind placing a bet, whether they all are victors or losers...in the end, it is she always wins.
Background:
This little known Goddess is the troublemaker of all of Ares’ brood. She was
given the title of “Ares’ Bane” by the Fates before her birth. She is the
one of the youngest of his children and the least known until now. Her main goal is to
upset any war plans that he had started and it is now beginning to work.
Born with fiery red hair and startling blue eyes, the vixen became trouble for Ares at the time of her birth. She was born with a pair of dice in her hands and the ability to control the outcome of any game, race, battle or war wherever a wager was at stake and most of the men in Ares’ armies were betting men. From the time she was a child she was always tempting the soldiers into a game of chance that usually got so competitive that wars would be put on hold for weeks, months, even years on end. It wasn’t until she grew older that Ares realized who she was and what she was doing.
Tabliope
holds no allegiance to anyone, though she has inadvertently aided her Aunt
Athena for centuries. Stories of late have even stipulated that she had set a
wager on who would be victorious in the Trojan War – that the game that Athena,
Hera, and Aphrodite played was influenced by Tabliope through Eris’ apple though
none of them would admit to or deny the fact.
The whereabouts of Tabliope have always been skeptical but where ever Ares was planning to fight a war, one usually assumed that the start of it, if it did start, took much longer than the God of War had patience for. So now because of his self absorbance and unheeding the words of the Fates so long ago, he now lives to regret any plan of war knowing full well that the one child he never thought he’d take notice of causes more problems to him than the rest of his children put together. And to make matters worse, she ‘s the only one he cannot control or manipulate for his own use…and that seems to suit her just fine.
Powers:
Tabliope's powers are not limited to just the game of dice or bones, it extends
also to wagers on races, whether foot or horse, mock and real battles and even
wars. She also decides the winner or loser of each contest, including those
wars in which she hinders her father in every turn.
Favorite City: Sparta, but holds a special place in her heart for Macedonia as well
Favorite Animal: The Fox
